I'd been following Maroon Bell for a few years now after originally seeing the Buffalo driving glove on IG. Loved the look and idea of a durable, heirloom-quality driving/light duty glove that looked sharp. Finally I treated myself and ordered these for the holidays this year. I practically stood at the door today like an excited kid when I got the delivery notice, but man, I couldn't have been more disappointed.
The glove detailing looks like it has changed - maybe in favor of production scaling. The logo was different and is now gold embossed on the side rather than what always looked to be stamped on the cuff (what's pictured online at the time of order), the index fingers on both gloves have an outward rotation to the seam that doesn't align with the other fingers - feels weird and shifts the "smart" pad to the side. But the worst flaw that I couldn't overlook is that, for what's touted as a durable glove, these snaps open with a stiff breeze. They won't stay closed. If I flex my wrist or if there's any hint of torque - these snaps let loose.
That's the real issue; although, I was so hopeful to have found a great product by a small business in the USA. I'm reaching out to the company in hopes that this was a bad batch or from a new manufacturing chain and that they still have some OG Maroon Bell gloves on the workbench that live up to the quality I observed and heard about years ago.
PS - Just saw the manufacturing tag inside the gloves and they are, apparently, made in Pakistan rather than Colorado. I purchased under the impression they were a US-made product.
UPDATE: I'm going to tentatively change this review from 1-to-3 stars based solely on the company's response and customer service. Within 24 hours I received a response from who represented themselves as the company founder. The defects were explained and they're sending another pair, which I really hope doesn't have the same quality issues.
Will take some time to fully break in, sorta like your favorite baseball glove, but, hot damn! Very classy looking gloves. Nicely made, solid quality, toasty lining. 🤘🤘🤘
Great gloves. Still breaking them in, but they get better every time I wear them
The Buffalo Leather Gloves are excellent. The leather feels strong but soft enough to move comfortably. The fit is snug without being tight, and they broke in quickly after a little use. The quality is clear in the stitching and overall feel.
They work well for driving, working outside, or just everyday wear when I want something durable that still looks good. The black leather with the small brown accent gives them a sharp look.
These are not throwaway gloves. They feel like something that will last for years while getting better with age.
The 2 pairs of gloves I ordered from Maroon Bell Outdoor are truly a work of craftsmanship. The fit is perfect, the leather thick yet comfortable and the look great!
